Chapter 44
"【Quest complete!】
【Congratulations! You've unlocked the rights to purchase the shop's Costume Box section!】"
Rao Ke stared at the sudden notification in the shop, feeling as though she'd done nothing yet somehow completed the quest.
"Once Teacher and Aodisite are back, I'll treat them well," Rao Ke thought, continuing to work without pause.
Meanwhile, in the Goblin Kingdom, the king's eyelids twitched, then slowly opened. The first thing he saw was Yabusi standing guard beside him.
"Brother, how do you feel?" Yabusi asked hurriedly as he saw the king's eyes open.
"I'm fine. You've worked hard during this time," the king said slowly.
"No problem." Yabusi shook his head, then added, "By the way, Keke Shop wants to sign a contract with us for the Teleportation Array."
The king said softly, "I understand. Please invite those two guests over."
"Alright!" Yabusi turned to Ford beside him and said, "Go and invite Ms. Chrisley and her companion."
Ford quietly withdrew. After a while, Chrisley and Aodisite walked over.
The king had Yabusi help him sit up, leaning against the headboard. "Hello, I'm truly grateful for your help. I will agree to your conditions."
Chrisley and Aodisite exchanged a glance.
Great, task complete, and we can head straight back to the shop!
"We just want to establish a Teleportation Array with the Goblin Kingdom. That's our only condition," Chrisley said with a smile.
The king nodded gently. "Of course, but our kingdom is quite poor. To keep things running, we may not be able to provide as much maintenance as other countries do."
"However, our kingdom is rich in minerals. So, every month, we will provide a fixed amount of various mineral resources to Keke Shop for free. As for the quantity, you can discuss it with the shopkeeper when you return, and just let me know," the king added quickly.
Chrisley could see the king's sincerity, so she nodded. "Fine, let's sign the contract first. When I get back, I'll inform the shopkeeper."
Since the king had just woken up and was still weak, he simply pressed his thumbprint.
After completing the task, Chrisley was in high spirits and didn't linger. "Then I'll be off," she said, and left the room with Aodisite.
The king smiled at Yabusi. "Because I need a few months to recover, you'll have to handle the affairs recently."
Yabusi stiffened, looking bitter. "What? You know I hate dealing with such things. Better you do it."
The king immediately put on a pained expression. "Alright, no need to argue. I'm not feeling well. You'll start studying from tomorrow."
Yabusi looked at his brother, who was being shameless, and felt like crying. He sensed that his carefree life of roaming mountains and rivers was gone forever.
Meanwhile, the king closed his eyes with a slight smirk. He had long been annoyed with this wanderer of a brother, who roamed the land while he was stuck in the palace dealing with trivial matters.
The king's revenge...
With the king's soul restored to his body, the Goblin Kingdom resumed its operations.
To ward off bad luck, the king planned to hold a national festival, including a banquet at the palace, and invited the goblin ministers.
Originally, he wanted to invite Chrisley and Aodisite as well, but the two were eager to return to Keke Shop as soon as they finished their business, so they politely declined.
The day before the banquet, Chrisley and Aodisite prepared to leave the Goblin Kingdom.
"Alright, no need to see us off," Aodisite and Chrisley said as they sat in the off-road vehicle, waving at the king and others who had come to see them off. A moment later, they started the vehicle and drove away.
The king watched until the vehicle's silhouette shrank to a tiny dot before announcing their departure.
Inside the off-road vehicle, Chrisley and Aodisite enjoyed the thrill of the wind rushing past.
"Let me drive later!" Aodisite put down her book, clearly excited.
"Okay!"
And so, with the wind whipping past, the off-road vehicle pulled up to the entrance of Keke Shop.
After parking, the two got out and saw a red-haired figure dashing toward them.
"Long time no see, Chrisley!" Afra, who had just learned from Rao Ke that Chrisley was returning, had been waiting at the door and rushed over the moment she saw the vehicle.
"Long time no see, Afra." Chrisley felt a hint of nostalgia looking at the girl who still looked the same as she had hundreds of years ago.
Aodisite, seeing Afra completely ignore her, was speechless and left to find Rao Ke, intending to grab some new light novels or comics.
"Let's spar!" Afra looked at Chrisley and challenged her directly.
"Sure," Chrisley agreed with a smile.
"If you didn't agree... What! You actually agreed so quickly this time!" Afra was pleasantly surprised.
Chrisley smiled outwardly but inwardly complained, Since we're going to fight anyway, might as well agree from the start to save time.
"Alright, let's go!" Afra dragged Chrisley off immediately.
"They're like this," Rao Ke said, patiently listening to the fuming Aodisite.
"Exactly! They completely ignored me! How rude!!" Aodisite bit into a cookie fiercely.
Rao Ke took out a few novels from a nearby shelf. "These, do you like them?"
Aodisite picked them up and flipped through a few pages, her eyes lighting up. "I like them! Thank you, KeKe!"
"Glad you like them," Rao Ke said with a warm smile.
Then, a loud rumble came from outside.
"What's going on?" Rao Ke was about to stand up to check, but calm Aodisite soothed her.
"It's nothing, just the noise from their sparring."
Rao Ke found it odd. "Aren't they using a barrier?"
"They should be. Otherwise, this place would have been flattened by now," Aodisite said nonchalantly. "Their power is too strong, so it causes such sounds."
After a while, the continuous rumbling stopped.
"They're done," Aodisite said calmly while reading a novel, sipping tea, and eating snacks.
Sure enough, the next second, the two returned to Keke Shop. Chrisley still wore a gentle smile, her clothes spotless, while Afra beside her fared much worse—her clothes were full of tears, and she looked completely disheveled.
Because of the commotion, a crowd had gathered at the shop's entrance. When they saw the two return, everyone carefully moved aside, looking at them with awe and reverence.
...
"Let's have a party tonight to celebrate Chrisley and Aodisite's return!" Rao Ke suggested enthusiastically.
Everyone nodded and agreed to join.
"Then tonight, let's go to the rooftop and have a barbecue!" Rao Ke decided on the gathering format.
By evening, the rooftop was decorated with twinkling star lights, adding to the ambiance.
Rao Ke turned the tablet into a touchscreen song request machine and played music. A long table was laden with various fresh vegetables, fruits, and meats.
Everyone was grilling skewers with enthusiasm. Rao Ke grilled chicken wings, the charcoal flames licking the snow-white wings until they turned golden brown, giving off an enticing aroma.
After Xue Jiali grilled a skewer of "zhangzhongbao" (chicken tender), he placed it on the platter behind, then picked one up and handed it directly to Rao Ke.
"Thanks!" Rao Ke's cat-like eyes curved into smiling arcs as she took the skewer from Xue Jiali.
"Grilled very well!" Rao Ke praised Xue Jiali.
Xue Jiali suppressed the smile that threatened to break out, his ears and cheeks heating up again. "Mm."
Other staff members ate their barbecue while watching the two.
After grilling for a while, Rao Ke was pushed aside to listen to music and eat.
Rao Ke ate the grilled beef, listening to the lyrical music, watching the starlight scattered across the black velvet sky, and a smile tugged at the corners of her mouth.
As they ate, everyone shared their stories and experiences, which amazed the younger ones—Rao Ke, Kalisa, and Xue Jiali—who listened in wonder.
Long-lived beings can live very long, and having experienced so much, their life stories and adventures were rich.
Delicious food, songs, and stories intertwined into this night.
