Chapter 59
According to their previous arrangement, Wen Yan had specially swapped shifts so she could join the weekend hike.
Just after the first light of Saturday morning pierced the thin mist over Beijing’s outskirts, figures were already gathering in the clearing at Shanyakou.
It had snowed last night. Not much, just enough to blanket the ground. In the morning cold, it had frozen into a brittle white crust.
Step on it, and it gave off a faint crackling sound, like treading on countless tiny sugar figurines.
Jin Ziyu and Jiang Linyue arrived first. The two stood side by side on a patch of untouched snow, both wearing the same dark gray mountaineering jackets, speaking in low voices about something.
Jiang Linyue held a small insulated flask. She unscrewed the lid and handed it over; Jin Ziyu took a sip, and the rising steam misted against her lashes, condensing into tiny droplets.
When they saw Jin Zijin’s hard-edged off-road vehicle driving up in the distance, Jin Ziyu was the first to raise a hand, her voice especially clear in the crisp air. “Zijin, Wen Yan, over here!”
The car stopped smoothly, its tires pressing shallow tracks into the snow.
Wen Yan got out first from the front passenger seat. She tested the snow with her foot before walking around to the other side and reaching out to open the door.
A hand extended from inside the car and rested in her palm; using that support, Jin Zijin stepped down.
It was Jin Zijin.
Today she wore a bright red mountaineering jacket, the color so vivid it looked almost brazen against the plain white snowfield.
Her long hair was tied into a neat high ponytail, exposing a smooth, full forehead. A few loose strands had been blown against her cheeks by the morning breeze.
There was a lively brightness in her eyes that made her seem a little softer than usual.
After greeting Jin Ziyu and Jiang Linyue, she asked, “You got here early. Have you been waiting long?”
Jin Ziyu stood where she was and watched them approach, then smiled and shook her head. “We just got here too.”
She lowered her eyes; her gaze flicked quickly to the hands the two of them were holding, and teasing amusement lit up her expression. “Newlyweds are clingy, huh? It’s such a short walk and you still have to hold hands.”
“You’re practically stuck together. I’m worried you’ll trip over each other walking.”
She was still joking when Jiang Linyue followed her gaze and looked at their joined hands as well, her eyes trembling slightly.
Wen Yan’s ears warmed. She instinctively wanted to pull her hand back, but Jin Zijin tightened her grip even faster.
As she walked forward, Jin Zijin lifted their clasped hands a little, chin tilting up with complete righteousness. “We’re married. Legally.”
Then she shot Jiang Linyue an unobtrusive look and snorted. “What’s wrong with being clingy? If you can’t stand it, go find someone legal to cling to.”
She said it with such pride and a hint of coyness that Jin Ziyu burst out laughing. “Fine, fine. You win.”
The two of them quickly came over, and Wen Yan greeted them. “Senior, Sister Ziyu.”
Jiang Linyue nodded.
Seeing that Jiang Linyue was only wearing a thin jacket, Wen Yan asked instinctively, “Senior, aren’t you cold dressed so lightly?”
Everyone’s attention turned to Jiang Linyue.
Without changing expression, Jiang Linyue said, “I’ve got a down vest on. I’m not cold.”
Wen Yan nodded, but she still wasn’t completely at ease. “Is the down vest thick enough? If not, I’ve got a thick one in my backpack. You can change into it.”
The moment she said that, the atmosphere turned slightly subtle.
Especially Jin Ziyu; she immediately shifted her gaze to Jin Zijin’s face, watching her expression.
Jin Zijin was smiling, and she played along too. “Right, Wen Yan brought an extra one in her backpack. She was worried someone might get cold on the way, so she packed a spare.”
Jiang Linyue pressed her lips together. “No need.”
“The weather’s fine. I run warm, so I can’t even feel the cold.”
Wen Yan let out a breath of relief. “That’s good.”
“I was just worried you hadn’t dressed warmly enough and your old injury would hurt.”
Jiang Linyue’s heart softened. She said gently, “It won’t. That was a long time ago; it stopped hurting ages ago.”
An old injury? There was a story there.
Jin Zijin turned her head and looked at Wen Yan.
Wen Yan immediately understood the meaning in her eyes and explained in a soft voice, “Oh, there was a year I climbed a snow mountain with Senior, and it turned unlucky. We ran into an avalanche. Senior broke two ribs trying to save me...”
Jin Zijin: ...
Oh, what a moving friendship.
Jin Zijin gave a faint hum and pretended not to care. “I see. So there was such a thing.”
“Looks like we’ll have to take Senior out to dinner someday.”
Helpless, Jiang Linyue explained softly, “No need.”
“Actually, it was Wen Yan who saved me.”
“After I got hurt, I couldn’t move very fast, and the mountain was freezing. She forced herself to keep going and carried me out of the snow.”
“If it hadn’t been for her... I probably would’ve been left there.”
Jiang Linyue looked up and said softly to Jin Zijin, “If you’re talking about repaying a debt, I owe Wen Yan more.”
Jin Zijin lowered her eyes to the woman’s clear gaze and felt like she’d choked on something for no reason.
Hah!
Impressive indeed!
One had thrown herself forward to protect the other’s career, taking the wind and snow for her.
The other had, for the sake of the first person’s life, forced her body through oxygen deprivation and carried her across the high-altitude snowfield step by step...
A truly life-and-death tale; moving enough to make one sigh!
Jin Zijin’s chest felt uncomfortably blocked. She had nowhere to vent it, so she could only look at Wen Yan.
Wen Yan suddenly felt a chill run through her entire body.
Damn it, why did it feel like Jin Zijin was angry?
No, no, she had to fix this. Fast.
Her mind raced, and just then, the sound of a car approached from far away.
Chi Chunxin’s voice carried over in the distance. “Hey...”
Everyone turned toward the back, and Wen Yan finally breathed out in relief.
The car stopped, and Chi Chunxin and Ye Jianlan walked over. “Good morning!”
“You all got here so early; looks like everyone’s been looking forward to these two days out!”
Chi Chunxin wore a bright blue mountaineering jacket today; the color was as flamboyant as she was. The oversized professional camera bag on her chest bulged with equipment and swayed with each step.
Ye Jianlan walked beside her in a steadier dark green, a gentle smile on her face.
Seeing Chi Chunxin approach, Jin Ziyu couldn’t help laughing. “Of course. It’s a trip organized by you, Director Chi; I’d go through fire and water to get here.”
Chi Chunxin came closer and immediately gave her a thumbs-up. “Sister Ziyu is righteous!”
Jin Zijin couldn’t help rolling her eyes. “You really are a bootlicker.”
The group laughed and joked.
Ye Jianlan walked up to Jiang Linyue and greeted her with a smile. “We meet again, Dr. Jiang.”
Jiang Linyue responded warmly, “Mm. We do, Miss Ye.”
They stood in the snow and exchanged a few simple words about recent events.
When Jin Zijin mentioned the arrangements she had made in advance, her tone grew serious. “The tents, down sleeping bags, and six horses; I had the camp staff move them to the lakeside ahead of time.”
“Today’s route isn’t short. If anyone runs out of stamina, they can ride for the second half and won’t have to force it. Safety first.”
“Oh, come on.”
Chi Chunxin raised her brows at Jin Zijin and clicked her tongue. “It’d be you running out of stamina, President Jin, wouldn’t it?”
“Last time we climbed that mountain—what was it called again... oh right, Haituo Mountain. Who was it that started complaining halfway up about sore legs, refused to move, and made Jianlan and me drag you up while coaxing you the whole way? Hm?”
Jin Zijin’s face flushed red in an instant; whether from the cold or embarrassment, it was hard to tell.
She glared at Chi Chunxin. “That was ages ago!”
“Back then... back then I just hadn’t warmed up properly. My stamina is great now. A little snowy slope like this? Easy.”
“Oh? Really?” Chi Chunxin drawled, lifting her brows even higher.
She was just about to dig up some even older dirt to tease her when she saw Wen Yan, who had been quietly standing at Jin Zijin’s side, suddenly step forward half a pace.
Wen Yan reached out and gently patted the back of Jin Zijin’s tightly clasped hand, then said softly, “It’s okay. If you really can’t walk, I’ll carry her. I still have decent strength.”
After all, she had carried Senior when she was little.
Now that she was grown, carrying Jin Zijin would be easy.
The air went still for a beat.
“Wow—!” Chi Chunxin was the first to react. She immediately drew out the word and whooped, nudging Ye Jianlan with her elbow. “A woman with a wife really is different!”
“Look at that, protecting her like this; she won’t let her suffer even a little!”
“Done for, done for, Old Ye; we’ve got no way to fight back anymore.”
Ye Jianlan also couldn’t help pressing her lips together in a smile; the corners of her eyes curved softly.
Jin Ziyu laughed out loud too, clapping with amusement. “I’m giving this round a perfect score for PDA!”
Wen Yan was flushed by their collective gaze and laughter; her forced calm shattered in an instant.
She opened her mouth awkwardly, but didn’t know what to say. In the end, she could only lower her head in helplessness and tug at the sleeve of Jin Zijin’s jacket with her fingers, like a small animal seeking shelter.
But Jin Zijin was clearly delighted by her clumsy defense and the little dependent gesture she was making now.
The embarrassment she’d felt from being exposed was instantly swept away, replaced by a warm, smug satisfaction.
She took the chance to wrap an arm around Wen Yan’s waist and pull her closer.
Jin Zijin tilted her chin even higher, all justified swagger. “Legal and compliant, reasonable and proper. You lonely folks can’t envy this.”
“Hey, hey, hey, now you’re really getting cocky!” Chi Chunxin laughed and scolded. “You really turn arrogant the second you’ve got a wife.”
Standing to the side, Jiang Linyue looked at Wen Yan’s shy, girlish expression; her gaze dimmed.
————————
As the laughter and teasing continued, the thin mist gradually dispersed, and the daylight brightened a little more.
After checking their gear, the group finally set off, stepping onto the brittle snow.
As an outdoor adventure expert, Jiang Linyue naturally walked at the front of the group to scout the path.
As she walked, she kept reminding everyone ahead of time that the road was slippery and there were jagged patches; with tireless patience, she told them to be careful.
The snowy scenery around the outskirts of Beijing couldn’t compare to the grandeur and shock of the snow mountains in western Sichuan, but it had its own cold elegance, unique to a northern winter.
On both sides of the mountain path, the trees—whether tall pines and cypresses or bare broadleaf trunks—held fluffy snow on their branches, like they’d been coated in a thick layer of frosting.
Now and then, a branch that couldn’t bear the weight would tremble slightly, shaking loose a small spray of powdery snow.
Some of it landed on people’s shoulders, bringing a momentary chill before melting into damp spots.
Chi Chunxin’s camera never stopped moving; now she aimed it at snow-covered dead grass, now at animal tracks in the snow, busily snapping away.
The air carried a fresh, biting cold. Taking a deep breath filled the lungs with icy currents, jolting the spirit awake; it was refreshing to the point of pain.
Wen Yan hadn’t seen such natural scenery in a long time.
Her steps unconsciously grew lighter, carrying a bit of long-lost delight.
Looking at the white path winding into the mountains ahead, at the sky reflected in the snowlight so bright it stung the eyes yet remained impeccably clear, she only felt her chest grow wide, vast, and open.
She couldn’t help but say softly, “This is so nice... After staying in the operating room for too long, I almost forgot what the real world looks like.”
“This is nothing yet,” Chi Chunxin called back from a few steps ahead. She turned around and exhaled a puff of white breath. “You haven’t seen the wilder stuff.”
“Once spring comes and the weather warms up, I’ll take you all deep into places with no people at all.”
“A primeval forest stretching as far as the eye can see; when you stand on a mountaintop and look down, the clouds are beneath your feet. Only then do you really feel how small you are, like a grain of sand.”
“You can cast everything in the world aside; your mind goes completely blank, and all that’s left are two things: living and seeing.”
Jiang Linyue happened to be walking on Wen Yan’s other side. Hearing this, she gave a slight nod and spoke in a steady voice, “That’s true.”
“In the winter of the year before last, I went to Northern Europe for a collaboration project and stayed in Lapland for a while.”
“I saw the aurora at midnight; green and purple bands flowed across the sky above us like living rivers. I also camped on a frozen lake. It was so quiet all around that you could hear your own blood flowing.”
“At times like that, you can’t help but feel that heaven and earth are boundless, and humans are especially small within them.”
“Wow, Dr. Jiang!” Chi Chunxin’s eyes lit up as if she’d found a kindred spirit. She immediately quickened her pace and moved closer to Jiang Linyue’s side. “You have taste!”
Jiang Linyue smiled.
Ye Jianlan, walking nearby, thought for a moment before speaking. “In that case, if we get the chance, let’s go somewhere even farther away.”
When Jin Zijin heard that, she immediately looked up, her long brows lifting. “My dear public servant, do you have that much vacation?”
All eyes turned to Ye Jianlan. She remained composed and answered without blushing or missing a beat, “I do.”
“Civil servants get annual leave too, you know.”
Chi Chunxin immediately made a sound of disbelief. “When your legendary annual leave finally arrives, I’d rather believe Jin Zijin is going on a honeymoon.”
At that, Chi Chunxin seized the chance and asked, “By the way, Wen Yan, did Jin Zijin take you on your honeymoon yet?”
Wen Yan froze. “No. We’ve both been busy with work, so we still haven’t gone. Why? Do you have any good suggestions?”
Chi Chunxin was just about to say something when Jin Zijin cut in at once. “If you do have suggestions, don’t say them. Thanks.”
“Don’t bring your rotten ideas into my honeymoon with my wife!”
Chi Chunxin rolled her eyes on the spot. “I haven’t even said anything yet, and you’re already calling it a rotten idea!”
“Jin Zijin, is there any trust left between people anymore!”
Jin Zijin shot back at once, “Not with you, anyway!”
And so the two of them started bickering again.
Ye Jianlan, standing to the side, pointed timely at a branch by the roadside. “Look, a squirrel.”
The two of them instantly turned back. “Where?”
Ye Jianlan looked perfectly calm. “It ran off. You missed it.”
Chi Chunxin clicked her tongue and turned her attention back to the scenery around her.
Like an inexhaustible sprite, she bounced to the side of the road to photograph a branch hung with icicles, then circled to the edge of the group to capture Ye Jianlan’s quiet profile as she walked.
After a while, she pulled Jin Ziyu over and insisted that the other woman pose on a snowy slope in a “conquering the world” stance...
In her, Wen Yan saw something almost primal: a kind of life force.
Unrestrained, passionate, frank, heedless.
Like a leaping blue flame; it could easily ignite the dull air around it and lift everyone’s mood with it.
Wen Yan suddenly understood why someone as proud and picky at heart as Jin Zijin could be friends with Chi Chunxin for so many years, bickering constantly yet never separating.
Some people, by their very existence, were a kind of energy. You couldn’t help wanting to get close, wanting to be warmed by that fire, even if you got burned a little now and then.
Just as she was lost in thought, a short cry came from the front.
“Hiss—!”
It wasn’t loud, but on the relatively quiet mountain path, it was especially clear.
Everyone stopped at once and looked over at the sound.
Only then did they see that Chi Chunxin had somehow darted into a patch of shrubs.
At this moment, she was standing beside a small clump of low bushes, frowning as she lifted her left arm.
A sharp dead branch had torn a cut about an inch long into the cuff of her bright blue jacket. The edges of the fabric curled outward, revealing the pale fleece lining beneath, and under that, the skin seemed faintly red; it looked like she’d already scraped herself.
“What happened?” Ye Jianlan reacted the fastest and crossed over in a few steps, concern in her voice.
Jin Zijin also hurried over and frowned at the injury. “What brand of junk jacket is this? One scrape and it falls apart, you...”
Chi Chunxin looked up at her with watery eyes, half crying and half not.
Seeing her pitiful expression, Jin Zijin’s reproach got stuck in her throat and wouldn’t come out.
Wen Yan and Jiang Linyue quickly reached them.
The two of them simultaneously opened their backpacks and took out almost identical items: individually wrapped iodine disinfectant wipes, waterproof bandages, and a small portable folding pair of scissors.
Seeing the gear in each other’s hands, Jiang Linyue visibly paused, then laughed helplessly. “Looks like... we were thinking the same thing.”
Wen Yan was also a little surprised. She looked down at what she was holding, then at Jiang Linyue’s, and smiled at her. “Senior taught me all this. When you’re outdoors, scrapes and bumps are inevitable.”
“It never hurts to be a little more prepared.”
“Wow!” Chi Chunxin, who had been on the verge of tears, leaned in to look at the two near-identical “first-aid trios” in their hands and joked with a smile, “That kind of tacit understanding! As expected of sisters from the same teacher!”
She clasped her hands together and bowed to them both. “Thank you for being so well prepared; now please hurry up and save my poor life!”
Wen Yan and Jiang Linyue began bandaging Chi Chunxin together.
Jin Zijin stood where she was and didn’t move, her gaze fixed on Wen Yan and Jiang Linyue.
Watching the two of them divide the work with such perfect coordination.
One tore open the iodine wipe package; the other used tweezers to pick it up, lowered her head, and carefully disinfected the small scraped wound on Chi Chunxin’s arm.
Their movements were both meticulous and professional. The angle of their lowered heads, the strands of hair falling forward, even the serene and focused expressions on their faces; there was something inexplicably similar about them.
A subtle emotion she couldn’t quite name quietly crept into Jin Zijin’s heart.
Sour and bitter.
She gave a soft huff, took two steps forward, and gently grasped Wen Yan’s free wrist, pulling her closer to her side as she urged in a stiff tone, “All right, all right, it’s just a bit of scraped skin. Disinfect it and put on a bandage; that’s enough.”
“Hurry up and finish so we can go. Don’t dawdle. Once the sun’s out, the snow will melt and the road’ll get slippery. It won’t be easy walking.”
That childish jealousy, practically written all over her face, made both childhood friends laugh.
Chi Chunxin winced in pain as she sucked in a breath, then teased, “Tsk tsk tsk, President Jin, isn’t your possessiveness a little too obvious?”
“I’m the injured one, and I’m not even in a rush. What are you rushing for?”
Jin Zijin’s ears went warm at being called out, but she still held her ground and shot her a glare, all bluster and little real force. “Who’s rushing? I’m managing the overall situation and controlling the pace of the itinerary. You worry about your own arm; don’t go diving back into the thorns later.”
The wound was quickly treated, and the group set off again.
Chi Chunxin seemed to have endless energy. Even with a bandage on her arm, she still had her camera up as she hopped and darted around.
When they reached a relatively open patch of snow, there happened to be a sturdy, leafless dead tree nearby. Chi Chunxin’s eyes lit up, and she immediately raised her camera, calling to Wen Yan and Jin Zijin, who were walking a little behind. “Hey! You two! Stand there!”
“Don’t move! Yes, yes, right by that tree!”
“Perfect! This composition! This atmosphere! Come on, get closer, Jin Zijin, don’t keep your hand in your pocket; put it around Dr. Wen!”
“Dr. Wen, don’t just stand there. Smile a little. Yes, look at the camera, no no no, looking at Jin Zijin is fine too...”
Wen Yan was a little flustered by her directions, standing rather stiffly beneath the tree.
Jin Zijin, however, obeyed without fuss. Very naturally, she reached out, put an arm around Wen Yan’s shoulder, and drew her a little closer into her embrace.
Sensing Wen Yan’s body tense up in an instant, she tilted her head and let her lips brush almost against Wen Yan’s ear. “Relax, my good wife~ Smile for me, hmm?”
That low, drawn-out “wife” carried a hook of its own.
Wen Yan’s heart skipped a beat; heat rushed to her face. Yet strangely enough, her body really did begin to relax.
Following Jin Zijin’s words, she turned her head slightly and let her gaze fall on Jin Zijin’s profile, which was so close it seemed almost smiling. The corners of her own lips lifted unconsciously.
Click, click.
Chi Chunxin slammed the shutter several times, then looked down at the preview on her camera screen and boasted triumphantly, “I’m amazing! This shot is perfect; the lighting, the composition, the emotions, all of it is incredible!”
“Oh, please,” Jin Zijin said, releasing Wen Yan and leaning in to glance at the screen. She then dismantled the boast without mercy. “It’s clearly because Wen Yan and I are good-looking and have outstanding presence. Just standing there, we’re already a painting.”
“Whoever took it would’ve gotten the same result; your camera just got lucky.”
“Hey! Jin Zijin, you’re biting the hand that fed you, aren’t you?” Chi Chunxin protested, shoving the camera screen right in front of her face. “Put your heart into it and tell me—wasn’t this angle mine? Wasn’t this light the result of me waiting for the moment?”
“I’ll admit Dr. Wen is pretty. Naturally beautiful, no argument there. As for you... you’re only average at best; it’s this snow scenery and atmosphere that elevated you!”
“Who are you calling average?!”
“You! What, got a problem with that?”
The two of them started arguing again like elementary school kids.
Wen Yan stood in the middle, listening to their childish yet familiar bickering and watching the others around them smile at the show. Hearing the laughter echo across the mountains, she felt a long-lost bustle gently wrap around her.
She couldn’t help lowering her head and smiling shyly, the blush on her cheeks lingering for a long time.
At some point, Jiang Linyue had fallen to the back of the group.
She didn’t join in the laughter and noise up front; she simply walked quietly.
The woman’s gaze moved unconsciously across the few people in the middle and settled on Wen Yan, in the black mountaineering jacket, beside that bright red figure.
She had seen Wen Yan’s seriousness, diligence, intelligence, composure, and even the fatigue and fragility she rarely showed.
But she had never seen Wen Yan like this.
So gentle it seemed ready to drip with water; so relaxed it was like a little beast finally finding a safe den.
Every inch of her radiated the sweetness of being carefully loved, of being at ease and immersed in happiness.
That brightness was so unfamiliar, and so blinding.
Jiang Linyue felt as if her heart had been chilled by the cold air of this snowfield. It tightened slightly, a dense and lingering dull pain rising within it.
A deep sense of loneliness silently spread upward and wrapped around her.
“Dr. Jiang.”
A gentle voice sounded beside her.
Jiang Linyue came back to herself at once, gathering away every trace of emotion on her face. She turned and met Ye Jianlan’s calm gaze.
Ye Jianlan had somehow slowed her pace and now walked beside her.
“Mm.” Jiang Linyue answered, her voice steady and even.
Ye Jianlan’s gaze also drifted to Wen Yan not far ahead as she spoke casually, as if making idle conversation. “You and Wen Yan have known each other for many years, haven’t you? From the way you interact, you seem pretty familiar.”
“Oh, since her freshman year,” Jiang Linyue said, looking forward, her tone flat enough to sound like she was reciting a chart. “Back then she was only fourteen and had skipped grades into medical school.”
“I was two years ahead of her, so I was her direct senior. Some of the basic lectures and lab classes overlapped.”
“Fourteen, huh...” Ye Jianlan lifted her brows slightly and smiled, a trace of emotion in that smile. “Then by that logic, you two do count as childhood sweethearts, growing up together.”
“It’s not quite the same.” Jiang Linyue shook her head. Her gaze settled on Wen Yan in the distance. “I’m six years older than her.”
“When she entered university, she was still a child. No matter how mature she was mentally, her age and experience were what they were.”
“At that time...” Jiang Linyue paused, then added with some difficulty, “I always felt she needed to be cared for more, more like a junior who needed guidance and protection, not a peer you could joke around with as an equal.”
“Is that so.” Ye Jianlan glanced at her. Her expression was gentle, but her eyes seemed able to see through the calm surface to the hidden currents underneath.
Her tone remained relaxed, carrying just the right amount of curiosity. “So Dr. Jiang has been the kind of person who’s very good at taking care of others and very responsible since college?”
Jiang Linyue froze; it seemed she hadn’t expected the topic to turn toward her.
After a two-second silence, she nodded lightly. Her voice dropped a little. “Maybe... a little.”
“I’m the eldest in my family. I have younger siblings below me, so I got used to being a role model and taking care of the little ones from a young age.”
“Later, after I got into university, whenever I met younger juniors who were genuinely outstanding, I’d unconsciously pay a little more attention and worry a little more.”
Taking care of Wen Yan seemed to be her instinct.
She comforted herself with that.
“No wonder.” Ye Jianlan smiled knowingly, her expression carrying a certain clear understanding. “I always felt there was something very reassuring about you; unlike Chunxin’s restlessness, or Zijin’s... aggressiveness.”
“You’re a lot like my eldest sister; no matter when it is, she’s always quietly paying attention to everyone’s condition and keeping everyone’s affairs in mind.”
She paused, then her tone lightened. Smiling, she added, “By the way, I’m the youngest in my family; I’ve got older brothers and sisters above me, so I’ve been used to being cared for since I was little.”
Hearing that, Jiang Linyue looked at her in surprise. “Miss Ye is actually the youngest in the family?”
Ye Jianlan curved her brows, looking especially relaxed. “Can’t tell, can you?”
She smiled, her expression carrying a trace of mischief. “Actually, I’m two years younger than Zijin and the others.”
“I’m exactly thirty this year.”
About the same age as Wen Yan.
Jiang Linyue paused, and then she suddenly understood what Ye Jianlan meant.
She looked at the other woman in slight astonishment.
Just then, Ye Jianlan suddenly pulled her phone out of her pocket, opened a QR code, and said to Jiang Linyue, “So, Dr. Jiang, can I add you on WeChat?”
————————
Jin Zijin: Tch, Old Ye!
Among the three of them, Old Ye is the only one who has dated anyone.
And she kept it very secret; no one knew.
[cracks apart] This woman is even scarier than Jin Zijin [laughing to tears]
