Don't Sexually Harass Me
Even though they'd already shared a bed for three nights, Lin Sangyu still couldn't get used to it.
She rested her head on Jiang Wenzhe's arm, curled up in his embrace, tossing and turning, switching positions every few seconds.
"If you've got ADHD, I'll take you to the hospital tomorrow," Jiang Wenzhe finally snapped, clamping her firmly in place.
Lin Sangyu looked up at him with bright, sparkling eyes. "Jiang Wenzhe, I can't sleep, and I'm a little hot."
Jiang Wenzhe closed his eyes.
Jiang Wenzhe got up.
Jiang Wenzhe turned the air conditioning down to 16 degrees.
A moment later, Lin Sangyu felt waves of biting cold air sweeping over her from all directions, chilling her to the bone.
She shivered and stammered, "Jiang Wenzhe, I'm a bit cold now."
"Then hold on tighter." His voice came from above, muffled.
"Oh." Lin Sangyu rolled back into his arms, pressing her face against his chest and wrapping her arms tightly around his waist.
She was practically fused to him.
Jiang Wenzhe's body temperature did seem higher than hers; holding him was indeed warmer.
Thump-thump—
As if she'd discovered a new continent, Lin Sangyu pressed her ear even closer and said delightedly, "Jiang Wenzhe, I can hear your heartbeat."
"It'd be strange if you couldn't."
"True," Lin Sangyu agreed, finding his logic sound. "If there were no heartbeat, I'd be sleeping with a dead person, wouldn't I?"
The man who'd just been called a corpse clenched his fist, grabbed the blanket, and dumped it right over Lin Sangyu's face.
Caught off guard, she gasped for air, threw the blanket off in one swift motion, and took deep breaths. "Are you trying to murder me?" she demanded angrily.
Jiang Wenzhe kept his eyes closed and replied flatly, "Yeah."
After a second of hurt feelings, Lin Sangyu lifted her head slightly, studying his prominent Adam's apple and the sharply defined line of his jaw, and asked, "If I died, would you be sad?"
Before she got an answer, his large hand came down and covered her mouth without mercy. "Shut up. Don't say things like that."
"Fine." A new thought crossed her mind, and she squirmed upward until her head was nearly level with his. Hesitantly, she said, "Can I discuss something with you?"
Jiang Wenzhe clicked his tongue in annoyance. "Is there something that can't be discussed during the day and has to wait until we're in bed at night?"
He pulled out his phone and turned it on, holding it close to Lin Sangyu's face.
In the darkness, the light stung her eyes. "So bright! Move it away."
"Check the time. What time is it?" He kept the phone where it was, his tone firm.
"Twelve twenty-five."
Jiang Wenzhe turned off the phone and asked, "So?"
Lin Sangyu wasn't giving up. "But it's really, really important. I'm afraid I'll forget by tomorrow."
"Go on." He ran a hand through his hair in frustration.
Lin Sangyu looked at him pleadingly. "Could you make some time to film a video with me?"
"What kind?"
"Have you seen those videos where a sugar glider glides down from a height and someone catches it in their hand?"
"Mm, yes." Jiang Wenzhe said.
"I want to film something like that, but a bit different. I want to mix in a travel segment where we shoot at different spots in London, and I'll edit them together at the end." Lin Sangyu laid out her idea.
Jiang Wenzhe raised an eyebrow. "What's in it for me?"
"You want something in return?" Lin Sangyu pouted.
How stingy.
"I'm busy. If I'm taking time out to film with you, shouldn't there be a benefit for me?" His voice took on a lazy, unbothered tone. "Or are you trying to freeload off me?"
"Do I look like that kind of person?"
Lin Sangyu could see how exhausted Jiang Wenzhe had been these past few days; even in his spare time, he was often buried in work, taking calls she couldn't understand.
That was why she'd hesitated for so long and only brought it up at night.
Taking a deep breath, she mustered her courage, fixed her gaze on him, and held up one finger—
A big "one."
"If this video goes viral, I'll give you ten percent of the earnings. How about that?"
Jiang Wenzhe closed his eyes. "That's too generous. I can't handle it."
Really? She'd just worried she was being stingy, but apparently Jiang Wenzhe's capacity for accepting money was weak.
Still, Lin Sangyu said magnanimously, "Then I'll give you a hundred bucks."
Jiang Wenzhe laughed out of sheer exasperation. "Lin Sangyu, you don't need to give me money. Just give me some practical compensation."
Practical compensation?
Lin Sangyu's eyes darted around, her gaze fixing on the ceiling before meeting his. "Then how about from now on, I wash my own underwear instead of having you do it?"
On the night she'd first transformed and bathed, she hadn't been able to tell which of Jiang Wenzhe's countless bottles and jars was for laundry, so she'd left her small garments in a basin, planning to observe him when he did laundry and then decide.
But when he came out of the shower, Lin Sangyu found her underwear already washed by his hands, and her clothes tossed into the washing machine.
From then on, she gradually never washed anything again.
Every small detail of daily life, big or small, seemed to have been taken care of by Jiang Wenzhe.
Silence. Deep silence.
Jiang Wenzhe grabbed both of Lin Sangyu's ears and shook her head up and down, left and right.
"What are you doing?" Disoriented by the motion, she saw his face blur and protested.
Jiang Wenzhe said with great concern, "I'm shaking you to see if your head's full of water."
"It's not full of water—stop shaking!"
Lin Sangyu bent her arms and shoved his hands away with her elbows.
"Then why aren't you using your brain when you talk?" he asked.
Lin Sangyu was momentarily speechless, her cheeks puffing up in anger. "Fine, no benefits for you! Today I'm definitely going to freeload off you!"
With that, she turned away in an exaggerated huff, leaving him with a view of her back.
Jiang Wenzhe pulled her back and poked her soft cheek from behind, sighing. "After all this time raising you, you're still so childish."
So immature.
And he felt himself being unconsciously influenced by Lin Sangyu, becoming a bit childish too.
"Where am I not grown up?" Her muffled protest came from the back of her round head.
"Fine, fine, you're grown up." It was late, and Jiang Wenzhe had no energy to argue with a child. He reached over to adjust the air conditioning back to normal. "Go to sleep."
Lin Sangyu had actually been sleepy for a while, and she answered immediately, "Goodnight, Jiang Wenzhe."
The London night was quiet and serene, the evening breeze brushing the hotel window glass with a touch of laziness and romance.
Once the person in his arms was breathing steadily, Jiang Wenzhe called softly, "Lin Sangyu."
Seeing no reaction, he proceeded with his next move.
The flowing air seemed to thicken into something viscous; moonlight scattered like broken bricks across the floor, and Jiang Wenzhe heard his own true heartbeat.
In the darkness where his senses were magnified to their limit, Jiang Wenzhe gently lifted Lin Sangyu's left hand and, from under the pillow, quietly pulled out a ring-measuring tape he'd hidden there.
The fingers that had signed countless billion-dollar contracts trembled slightly—and over something as trivial as measuring her finger size.
Slowly and gently, he slid the soft tape over Lin Sangyu's right ring finger.

Last night, Jiang Wenzhe had forgotten to close the curtains, so the first light of dawn streamed into the room without warning. He raised a hand to shield his eyes, but sunlight slipped through the gaps between his fingers.
Looking down, he saw Lin Sangyu sleeping soundly against his chest, her face soft and tender.
Her long lashes rested on her cheeks, and the sunlight made the fine fuzz on her skin clearly visible, like a soft, juicy peach.
Jiang Wenzhe bent to kiss her eyelids, then her nose, and finally placed a restrained, careful kiss on her lips.
Perks,
he told himself.
He slowly withdrew his arm and got out of bed nimbly.
The rustling was faint, but somehow Lin Sangyu woke up anyway.
Maybe her internal clock had really synced with his after spending so much time together.
She opened her eyes groggily and saw Jiang Wenzhe changing clothes with his back to her.
His robe slipped off, revealing the smooth, well-proportioned lines of his back; his lats were sharply defined, like spread butterfly wings. As he dressed, the muscles pulled and shifted in a fluid rhythm, each movement showing off his strength.
Lin Sangyu watched without blinking, then suddenly said, "Jiang Wenzhe, could you sleep naked from now on?"
Benefits had to be claimed for oneself—that was the lesson Lin Sangyu had learned, and she was putting it into practice.
Jiang Wenzhe buttoned his last button, then slowly turned around, looking down at her still lying in bed as if she'd said something amusing, and let out a derisive snort.
"Don't sexually harass me."
