The Plan to Rescue the White Moonlight

Chapter 26

Their lips brushed lightly, the sensation impossibly soft…

This was the first time Yan Can had realized a girl’s lips could be this soft, this pleasant to kiss.

The novelty of it made her unconsciously purse her own lips, then she stuck out the tip of her tongue and licked.

There was even the faintest hint of sweetness. Not the sweetness of candy; it was light and not cloying, like a taste that belonged to those lips themselves. But how could a person’s lips have a sweetness of their own?

Their bodies were pressed close, and the cool fragrance on the other person’s body seemed almost tangible as it wound around her in threadlike strands.

Yan Can sank deeper and deeper into it.

A lovely cool scent, soft lips, sweet and tempting; she wanted more, wanted to get a little closer…

Her hand moved without her noticing, settling on the other girl’s cheek. The skin there was just as soft and smooth, like the finest silk.

Maybe it felt too good; she began rubbing it lightly on instinct.

At that moment, Yan Can had completely forgotten why she’d come here.

And Su Ci had probably forgotten to push her away too, letting her do as she pleased.

When she felt that slick tongue slip in, Su Ci’s body went completely weak. The bouquet in her hand slipped from her limp fingers and hit the floor with a dull thud.

That sound yanked the two of them out of their daze.

The flirtatious, intoxicating atmosphere shattered at once; both of their faces flushed a faint red.

Yan Can broke away from her, breathing hard.

Once her breathing had steadied a little, she looked at Su Ci with guilty eyes.

Su Ci’s usually cool eyes were glazed with a thin sheen of moisture, the corners tinted red. Misty and shimmering, breathtakingly beautiful.

Her chest rose and fell with her breathing, making her look as if she’d been bullied…

Yan Can’s heart pounded violently; it felt as if something inside her was trying to break free, impossible to contain. “Su Ci, I…”

She didn’t dare look into her eyes. Her gaze dropped instead, landing on those slightly reddened lips. She had just licked them, and they still glistened with a glossy sheen…

Yan Can’s face grew hotter the longer she looked.

She hurriedly lowered her head.

So this was what kissing Su Ci felt like…

A different kind of beauty, a different kind of allure; it made her want more…

Yan Can suddenly shook her head hard. She must be crazy; why was she still thinking about kissing her?

“Um, Su Ci, I’m sorry, I—” Yan Can didn’t know what to say. She had meant to be the one rejected in return, but instead she’d gone even further. “I, I thought you would—” push me away.

She no longer dared look at her at all. It was over. Completely over.

This time, they were really going to be done as friends.

However, the imagined scene of them falling out never happened.

Su Ci straightened the collar Yan Can had wrinkled, then crouched to pick up the tulips from the floor. Her voice was soft and hoarse. “What’s the big deal? It was just a kiss.”

“Huh?” Yan Can looked up abruptly. The redness at the corners of Su Ci’s eyes had not yet faded, but her gaze had already returned to clarity. “We’re both girls, aren’t we.”

Yan Can blinked. Her mind had completely stalled.

Both girls, so kissing wasn’t a big deal? Was that what Su Ci meant?

“Let’s go out. We can’t stay here too long.”

Her tone was very light, but Yan Can could hear that she was no longer speaking with the same coldness as before.

After taking a couple of steps, Yan Can suddenly realized: was Su Ci not angry anymore?

“Su Ci, are we… friends again now?” Yan Can chased after her and asked.

Su Ci didn’t answer, walking silently out of the restaurant.

Yan Can followed closely, persistent as ever, and kept asking:

“Su Ci, I’m really dumb. If you don’t say things clearly, I really don’t understand. You’re not angry, right? If you’re not angry, then come back to my place with me, okay? I saw you didn’t really eat much at lunch; come home with me and let’s have a meal together, okay?”

She didn’t know how to coax people. Even bringing tulips was something she’d learned from the internet.

“Su Ci?” Yan Can carefully tugged at her sleeve. “Su Ci, say something to me, okay?”

The elevator wasn’t far from the restaurant, and they reached it quickly.

They had come at just the right time; the elevator was stopped on this floor. After the people inside got off, the two of them stepped in one after the other. Su Ci, holding the bouquet, said nothing and pressed the button for the basement level directly.

Yan Can stared at her profile, her head full of ideas about how to appease this person.

The elevator stopped on the first floor, and a crowd poured in.

The people standing deepest inside automatically moved to the side. Yan Can also instinctively stepped back, but when she turned her head and saw Su Ci pressed against the elevator wall, she worried about crowding her and hesitated.

Su Ci saw that her arm, hanging in a sling, was about to get bumped by the people in front. She reached out with one hand and hooked her fingers around Yan Can’s. Yan Can blinked twice, looking at her in pleasant surprise.

Feeling Su Ci tug her toward her side, she happily followed and pressed close to her.

This meant they were friends again, right?

Yan Can looked at Su Ci and blinked at her like a puppy; the latter turned her head and ignored her.

Yan Can…

After getting out of the elevator, Yan Can asked her in a small voice, “Su Ci, we’re friends again, right?”

Su Ci didn’t answer. Her reaction was still cold, but there was no trace of disgust on her face. Yan Can smiled.

“Su Ci, you’re really too good! I treated you like that, and you still—”

“Shut up!” Su Ci glared at her. “You’re not allowed to bring this up again.”

“Okay,” Yan Can said obediently, clamping her mouth shut. “Fine, I won’t mention it again.”

After looking around, she asked again, “Su Ci, why did we come to the basement?”

“Didn’t you say you were taking me home for dinner?” Su Ci’s voice carried no emotion.

Yan Can nearly cried. They had really made up: “Okay, let’s go to my house. What do you want to eat? I’ll have someone make it right now.”

She hadn’t expected to make up with Su Ci so muddle-headedly.

Wuwuwu, Su Ci was really too good. She didn’t reject her, and even forgave her after being forcibly kissed by her.

Su Ci was simply the kindest, most broad-minded person in the world.

When they got home, Yan Can still couldn’t quite believe it. She had actually managed to bring Su Ci back so simply, so easily. She’d even been thinking that if the flowers didn’t work, she’d send a love lunchbox instead.

“Su Ci, are you still going to your part-time job tomorrow?” Yan Can asked at the dinner table.

Yan Can was in a good mood now and even had an appetite. She had already finished a bowl of rice and a cream cheese cake, and was still stuffing strawberries into her mouth.

Su Ci glanced at her and said lightly, “Don’t talk while you’re eating.”

“I’m eating fruit; that doesn’t count.” Yan Can said with a grin.

Su Ci…

Now that they’d finally made up, Yan Can didn’t dare get too smug; she behaved herself a little more. It wasn’t until Su Ci finished the last bite of rice that she asked, “Su Ci, are you working part-time all through the National Day holiday?”

“Mm. Pass me a wet wipe.”

Yan Can pushed the tissue box over; Su Ci took one and pressed it to the corner of her mouth.

Her lips were full, with a lovely shape; when she pressed them, they sank in slightly, looking especially soft.

Not only did they look soft; they also felt soft when kissed, sweet and… like…

Her cheeks gradually grew hot. Yan Can shook her head and lifted a hand to pat her face.

No, why was she always thinking about kissing?

She cursed herself for being dazzled by lust.

“What’s wrong?” Su Ci looked at her movements, her brows knitting slightly. “Are you uncomfortable?”

“No, no, I’m fine.” Yan Can laughed it off. Then she looked up and saw her face, especially those beautiful lips, and her face started burning again. She simply turned her head away and said, “Do, do you want to do homework together?”

Better to do homework, or work on test papers; that way she might be able to calm down more easily.

Yes… calm down.

However, half an hour later.

Yan Can stared blankly at the question stem on her test paper for half an hour. Her brain kept glitching, and she couldn’t stop thinking about the scene of Su Ci being forcibly kissed by her——

The flushed eyes, the wet lips, the rising and falling chest, and that cool scent she simply couldn’t ignore right now.

“Su Ci, what perfume are you using?” Yan Can couldn’t help turning her head to ask.

Interrupted from her thoughts, Su Ci habitually frowned. Yan Can said a little gloomily, “You smell too good. It’s seriously affecting my studies.”

Faced with Yan Can’s ridiculous logic, Su Ci didn’t even lift her head. “I didn’t spray perfume.”

“How is that possible?” Yan Can didn’t believe her and leaned over. “You clearly smell so nice.”

She sniffed near Su Ci’s neck. “So good.”

The scorching breath brushed the sensitive skin behind her ear. Su Ci tightened her fingers around the pen, then casually swept a strand of hair aside to cover the tip of her ear, which was nearly burning. Her tone remained faint. “Maybe it’s the body wash.”

“What body wash? Send me the link; I’ll buy it too.”

“I’ll send it to you when we get back.”

She couldn’t finish all the homework in one go, and just like usual, Su Ci left when the streetlights came on.

After making up with Su Ci, Yan Can went to the restaurant to wait for her every day. The two of them ate together, did homework together, and were almost inseparable.

It was strange; Yan Can herself thought it was strange. She rarely depended on one friend like this, wanting to see her every day, wanting to stay with her, even if they did nothing.

“Are you working part-time tomorrow too?” On the second-to-last day of the holiday, the two of them sat at the desk doing homework, and Yan Can asked her.

Su Ci paused her pen and turned to look at her. “Why?”

“Tomorrow there’s going to be a heavy rainstorm. Don’t go.”

Yan Can had checked the weather forecast; from midnight tonight until tomorrow night, it would keep raining. “Why don’t you skip tomorrow? It’ll be so inconvenient.”

She knew Su Ci always took the bus to and from work. Going to work in a torrential downpour would be such a hassle, and it wasn’t worth it for just a little over a hundred yuan.

“No. I already promised them.” Su Ci said.

Since she’d said that, Yan Can didn’t press further.

Actually, there was a selfish reason behind her suggestion. She wanted to stay with Su Ci all day tomorrow.

It wasn’t even six yet. The afterglow of sunset fell across the desk, laying a layer of golden light over everything. This villa district was very quiet; looking out the window, huge swaths of violets were in full bloom, swaying in the breeze. Everything was peaceful and beautiful.

Yan Can finished half a test paper and looked out the window to rest her aching eyes. Suddenly, Su Ci beside her set down her pen.

Yan Can followed the tiny sound and looked over. Su Ci’s complexion was a little unnaturally pale.

Worried, she asked, “What’s wrong?”

“My stomach hurts. I’m going to the bathroom.” Su Ci stood up and said.

Yan Can thought she just needed the toilet and didn’t pay much attention. But she didn’t feel like continuing with homework either, so she picked up her phone and started playing Candy Crush.

She’d only been playing for a few minutes when a message from Yu Ting came in, asking about progress.

The embarrassing incident of her crying at school was only known by Yu Ting.

Yu Ting: How’s it going? Did you solve it? Your knot in your heart?

Yan Can: Do you even need to ask who I am? Of course!

Yu Ting: That’s good. Honestly, for someone to make you this upset, I’m kind of curious who it was. Alright, I’ll keep it secret. Nothing important; I was just asking. You’re busy, so go ahead.

Yan Can had no choice but to delete the half-finished message she had already typed.

She typed: Okay

Switching back to the game, she played for about ten minutes when footsteps sounded behind her. They were messy and uneven, and that gave her a bad feeling. Yan Can turned her head to look.

It was Su Ci, whose face looked even worse than before, deathly pale.

Her brows were drawn together in obvious discomfort; clearly something was wrong, but she didn’t want to show it, wearing an expression of forced restraint and self-control. Yan Can’s heart tightened instantly, and she moved forward to help her.

“I’m going back first,” Su Ci said.

How could Yan Can let her leave looking like this? She immediately said, “No, are you uncomfortable somewhere? I’ll call a doctor.”

Thinking she was sick, she didn’t expect Su Ci to say, “My period is here.”

“You get cramps on your period?” Yan Can didn’t feel anything during hers; she could eat ice cream or spicy food, and at most her lower back would ache a little. But she knew period cramps were miserable for girls. “Then even more reason you can’t go back.”

“Stay here tonight.”
