Chapter 26: Kiss Her Lips

Chapter 26 Rose: Kiss Her Lips.

Fu Chaoying couldn’t help but laugh softly. Tilting her head with interest, she leaned close to Ye Jiayuan and breathed, orchid-sweet, “Sister Jiayuan, are you jealous?”

Ye Jiayuan’s gaze swept over her pink lips as they parted and closed again, her expression unreadable. Before she could answer, Fu Chaoying shifted, and a wave of fragrance suddenly filled her arms.

The car braked hard without warning. Thrown forward by the momentum, Fu Chaoying’s forehead accidentally hit Ye Jiayuan’s jaw. She straightened at once, concern flooding her eyes as she said apologetically, “Sorry, Sister Jiayuan. Did that hurt? Are you all right?”

Ye Jiayuan lifted a hand to the spot and gently rubbed it with her fingertips. The skin there felt faintly warm. With Fu Chaoying’s light rose scent and anxious concern lingering around her, her throat bobbed once before she said softly, “I’m fine.”

Fu Chaoying was still half in her arms, her soft body pressed tightly against hers; they could feel each other’s breathing.

Fu Chaoying looked up, eyes full of apology, staring only at the long fingers resting against Ye Jiayuan’s jaw and the perfectly shaped red lips above them.

“Let me see,” Fu Chaoying said in a soft, sweet voice, with a trace of barely perceptible teasing.

She shifted a little out of Ye Jiayuan’s embrace and carefully reached out, trying to move her hand away.

Their fingertips brushed by accident; a spark of tingling electricity shot through them, and the distance between them shrank until even their breaths mingled.

Ye Jiayuan’s eyes darkened slightly. Feeling the softness of Fu Chaoying against her, she let her pry her hand away and draw closer.

She could still feel Fu Chaoying’s warm breath against her neck.

Fu Chaoying looked at the bright red mark on Ye Jiayuan’s fair jaw, and her guilt deepened.

Her thumb unconsciously rubbed at Ye Jiayuan’s chin, as if soothing it, as if apologizing.

Only when Fu Chaoying’s gaze drifted back to those thin lips did she suddenly come to herself, realizing just how intimate her current posture was.

She was about to pull back and widen the distance between them when a warm hand suddenly caught her chin—

Fu Chaoying’s lashes trembled. Her throat bobbed. “Sister Jiayuan?”

The air seemed to freeze at once. The car was silent; the sultry atmosphere swelled unchecked.

Feeling the tension in the air, Ye Jiayuan’s eyes went bottomless. She looked at the flush blooming across Fu Chaoying’s cheeks and the slightly parted pink lips, and her throat moved before she said softly, “How do you plan to make it up to me?”

The atmosphere was far too intimate. Fu Chaoying’s heart pounded uncontrollably as her mind raced. How should she make it up to her? Hug her? Or... kiss her?

Countless thoughts flashed through Fu Chaoying’s head, each tinged with an unspeakable color.

Just as she made up her mind and lightly bit her lower lip, preparing to act, Ye Jiayuan suddenly let go of her chin, giving her freedom back.

A flicker of confusion swept through Fu Chaoying. She looked up, only to see Ye Jiayuan’s expression calm and composed, as if nothing had happened; she remained cool, restrained, and unruffled.

Complex emotions flickered in Fu Chaoying’s eyes, but then she heard Ye Jiayuan’s cool voice by her ear: “You can owe me this one for now; pay me back later.”

With that, Ye Jiayuan turned around, pressed the partition button, and got out of the car.

Only then did Fu Chaoying realize that the car had stopped at some point. Looking through the window, she saw a white sedan parked in front of them, with several people standing there, apparently arguing about something.

Had they been rear-ended?

Fu Chaoying’s heart tightened. She immediately reached for the door, only to see Ye Jiayuan standing among the others with a calm expression. Her tone was steady, but her presence was overwhelming; just a few words were enough to silence the people who had been arguing.

Then Ye Jiayuan turned and walked back toward her.

Unhurried steps; composed expression.

“It’s nothing,” Ye Jiayuan said, looking at Fu Chaoying. She softened her voice and asked, “Did I scare you?”

Fu Chaoying shook her head. “No.”

“Get back in.”

Once they were back in the car, the driver hurriedly apologized, saying the other car had intentionally cut them off.

Ye Jiayuan gave a soft mm and remained as cool as ever. “Let’s go.”

Fu Chaoying unwrapped the Pizza Hut bag with ease. Of course it wasn’t a children’s meal, but a pizza with some sides.

She casually picked up a slice and offered it to Ye Jiayuan beside her, but Ye Jiayuan gently shook her head. “You eat it.”

Fu Chaoying wanted to share with Liu Xin in the front seat, but Liu Xin also waved it off with a smile. “Miss Chaoying, you eat it.”

Fu Chaoying looked at Ye Jiayuan pitifully.

Ye Jiayuan caught that glance from the corner of her eye and lifted her gaze to meet hers. Something in her heart softened; her voice also warmed a little. “Assistant Liu, you don’t have to be tense all the time. Relax a bit.”

At that, Liu Xin immediately smiled and agreed, then took the slice from Fu Chaoying and thanked her softly.

Fu Chaoying found it amusing and let her lips curve.

She picked out a few more pieces for Liu Xin, then leaned over to raise the partition and asked Ye Jiayuan in a low voice, “Sister Jiayuan, was I very annoying when I was little?”

Ye Jiayuan looked entirely natural, leaning lazily against the seat back. “Why do you ask?”

“Because when I was little, I always clung to you and made you take me to eat Pizza Hut,” Fu Chaoying said with a slight pout, her tone carrying a bit of coyness.

“Not really.” Ye Jiayuan said flatly, “You were easier to satisfy.”

Compared with her own younger sister, Ye Yian, Fu Chaoying’s demands really weren’t excessive. Ye Yian not only wanted Pizza Hut, she wanted McDonald’s too; and not only McDonald’s, she would also throw a fit and roll around on the ground if she couldn’t get a claw machine.

Ye Jiayuan lifted a hand and pressed her temple, then turned her head to look at Fu Chaoying’s delicate face. Watching her eat pizza with smiling eyes and curved brows, she looked just as she had when she was little.

A barely noticeable tenderness rose in her expression.

As the airport drew nearer, Fu Chaoying suddenly felt reluctant to part. She lightly tugged at Ye Jiayuan’s sleeve. “Then when are you coming back next time?”

Ye Jiayuan lowered her eyes and looked at the hand holding onto her sleeve. In a gentle voice, she said, “Next weekend.”

As soon as she finished, Fu Chaoying obediently let go. “Okay.”

Ye Jiayuan withdrew her gaze and turned to look out the window, as if trying to hide something.

Two minutes later, she suddenly said, “When you decide when you’re going to Singapore, remember to tell me in advance.”

Fu Chaoying blinked, then playfully said, “Okay, then Sister Jiayuan, go with me?”

Ye Jiayuan gave a slight nod; the corners of her lips lifted with a faint, almost imperceptible curve. “That’s not impossible. We’ll see how the schedule works out.”

Fu Chaoying’s eyes curved. She was about to say something else when Ye Jiayuan had already reached out and pressed the button to lower the partition.

The car’s interior became private again; the earlier intimacy seemed not to have faded at all.

Fu Chaoying’s heart began to race for no reason. She held her breath and heard Ye Jiayuan ask, “I didn’t ask you last time; do you prefer a villa or an apartment?”

Fu Chaoying smiled. “An apartment, I guess. The kind with a sea view.”

“Good.” Ye Jiayuan seemed to think of something else and asked in a low voice, “Do you have any plans to go to Hong Kong City recently?”

Fu Chaoying paused, then shook her head lightly. “I don’t have any work plans there at the moment. Why?”

Ye Jiayuan nodded and said nothing more, as if she had only asked casually.

Fu Chaoying looked at her calm face, trying to read something from her expression, but found nothing. She blinked and stopped asking.

Her gaze soon settled outside the window on her side; the sky was a flawless blue, not a cloud in sight.

Yet her mind was full of thoughts, all sorts of ideas rising like a tide.

Long-distance wasn’t one person’s problem alone; perhaps their work could also move toward each other’s cities.

Once that thought settled, Fu Chaoying’s brows relaxed.

Not long after, the car arrived at the airport.

Fu Chaoying suppressed the faint reluctance in her heart and saw her off as usual.

Liu Xin quickly pushed the luggage inside, walking ahead toward security to leave the two of them enough space.

When they reached the security checkpoint, Ye Jiayuan stopped, turned around, and looked at her. “This is far enough. Let the driver take you back.”

Fu Chaoying also stopped and gave her a shallow smile. “Then, Sister Jiayuan, have a safe trip.”

As soon as she finished speaking, she turned and walked out.

Ye Jiayuan watched her slender yet resolute back, her expression complicated.

Fu Chaoying pressed her lips together and restrained the urge to look back and watch her leave.

But in that very moment, fragments of memory suddenly flashed through her mind.

Fu Chaoying’s thoughts stirred. She abruptly stopped, then turned around without warning, only to collide with Ye Jiayuan’s deep gaze.

Ye Jiayuan was still standing where she was, looking at her without moving, as if she were the one sending someone off.

Fu Chaoying’s fingertips trembled for an instant. Then she smiled and ran toward her.

It was only a few steps; Fu Chaoying soon stopped in front of her, and only then did she realize how deep and vast Ye Jiayuan’s eyes were.

“Xiaoying,” Ye Jiayuan called her in a low voice.

Fu Chaoying’s lips curved; she blinked. “I accidentally hit your jaw just now. Does it still hurt?”

Ye Jiayuan narrowed her eyes slightly, then spoke slowly, her voice carrying a trace of barely concealed coaxing: “It hurts.”

Fu Chaoying reached up and held onto her shoulder, then rose slightly onto her toes and leaned toward her.

“Then...” Fu Chaoying placed her slender fingers lightly on her shoulder, stood on tiptoe, and came close, smiling brightly as she asked in a soft voice, “if I kiss you once, will you feel better?”

Her tone held a little unconsciously playful teasing.

Before Ye Jiayuan could respond, those soft pink lips were already pressing down without warning—kissing her on the jaw.

The warm, soft touch carried a faint sweetness. Ye Jiayuan’s gaze darkened instantly; her throat moved lightly, and the fingers hanging by her side curled slightly.

Fu Chaoying only brushed a fleeting kiss over her jaw, then smiled and withdrew. But before her heels had even fully touched the ground, a warm hand suddenly cupped her face—

The next second, Ye Jiayuan’s exquisitely featured face moved close, and in the blink of an eye she kissed Fu Chaoying on the lips.
