Developing Superpowers in Another World

The Parallel World's Gate Makes Its Debut

The wall was massive, rising and falling with the terrain, and it was clear that everyone was in a state of shock and despair.

Those who had faced the anomalies directly knew exactly how terrifying they were. They absolutely did not want to see another gate appear in this world—one that would let the anomalies run wild again.

If there was anyone who would welcome the sight of a second Threshold descending, it would be the controllers of the Federal Government—those tycoons at the very top of the pyramid.

Last night, Tu Ran had skimmed through some documents about the Threshold.

The Threshold had appeared without warning fifteen years ago. It was a towering wall that stretched into the sky, suddenly standing twenty kilometers east of the Federal Center's Administrative Building.

The wall seemed to have been erected in a single second. Countless monitors captured the moment: at first, it was a gray, three-dimensional wall, as if projected into existence. Then the color deepened, the material became solid and textured, and within a second, the wall had descended from the heavens.

The Federal Government sent drones to fly over the wall for reconnaissance, but they lost power and crashed the moment they reached four hundred meters. An unknown force blocked all attempts to observe further.

The height of the wall was impossible to measure, but its width was visible to the naked eye.

And upon seeing that width, one would be even more stunned—it was clear that current human technology could never have built such a thing.

Because the wall was only a thin layer thick.

It looked like a simple mix of black bricks and cement, but anyone could understand that a wall a hundred meters high couldn't stand without a strong foundation.

And the terrifying part was that it had no foundation at all.

When the aerial route failed, the Federal Government sent people to dig from below. But after just three or four shovelfuls, they broke through from the front of the wall to the back. That was when they discovered the truth: there was no foundation.

The sudden appearance of this bizarre wall immediately attracted widespread attention. People soon realized that although the black wall was solid, it let sunlight pass through and cast no shadow. Then, a civilian explorer found that at a certain spot, he could walk straight through it.

The explorer reported his discovery to the Federal Government.

Experts were immediately dispatched, but they could find no explanation. Though everyone was curious about what lay on the other side, no one dared to enter.

Drones sent through lost their signal the instant they crossed. Detectors and life sensors followed suit. And any bomb thrown in, regardless of yield, landed like a feather on a lake—not even causing a ripple.

"Shock! The Parallel World's Gate Makes Its Debut!"

A report burst onto the scene, quickly capturing the public's imagination.

One after another, adventure enthusiasts sought permission from the Federal Government to form teams and step through the wall.

One day, two days, three days... a month passed.

They never returned.

During this time, the experts stationed outside noticed that the "gate" had closed.

A hand could no longer reach through, bullets couldn't penetrate, and bombs couldn't be thrown in.

The wall had turned back into an ordinary wall—or so it seemed.

Just as everyone assumed the wall would remain sealed forever, and those inside would never come out, someone keenly noticed that the "gate" had opened once more.
