Developing Superpowers in Another World

Emergency

Tu Ran hurried toward the doctors' quarters.

She raised her hand to knock.

A face was already pressed against the door's glass window.

His eyes darted around, searching for something.

Tu Ran looked at the face before her, finding it somewhat familiar.

Yellow curly hair, gold-rimmed glasses.

He seemed to be one of the intern doctors she'd met in the elevator earlier.

Meng Fanchen was leaning in close, trying to see if a Pioneer had come.

The death of his companion had already cast a shadow over him.

He had to stay right under the Pioneer's nose; only then did his chances of survival increase.

Suddenly seeing that the Pioneer had changed to Tu Ran, Meng Fanchen's eyes went wide.

It was his goddess.

He immediately pulled the door open from the inside.

"Tu Ran—" He realized that calling her by her full name outright was a bit impolite, and after a long pause, added, "Sis!"

He knew her name; Tu Ran wasn't surprised.

Her name tag was clearly displayed on her chest.

When these people had been talking about her in the elevator earlier, someone might have paid attention to her name tag as she left.

Tu Ran glanced at the medical kit he was carrying and gave a slight nod. "Let's go."

Tu Ran escorted him into Ward 403.

The other wards were temporarily left to the three guards.

Meng Fanchen carried a box of medical supplies to Bed 3, first pulling back the patient's blanket to let in some air.

Tu Ran saw over a dozen wires extending from the patient's left chest, right over the heart, connected to the computer equipment beside the bed.

At the moment, the patient's face was cyanotic, clutching his chest and tilting his head back to breathe heavily.

Meng Fanchen first put him on oxygen.

Then he stood in front of the instruments and began manipulating the various buttons, adjusting the data.

Meng Fanchen moved quickly, leaving Tu Ran dazzled. She simply stopped watching and instead observed the changes in the patient on the bed.

His body gradually relaxed; he no longer strained his head upward to breathe heavily, and the hand clutching his chest dropped. His breathing evened out, his expression becoming calm.

Tu Ran glanced at his heart rate on the monitor—it was already 62 beats per minute, back to normal.

Meng Fanchen checked all his vital signs, made sure nothing had been missed, then pulled the blanket up to the patient's chest and quickly packed up his tools.

"Tu Ran—Sis, let's go," he said.

He didn't want to stay here.

He wanted to return to their room as soon as possible.

He was so worried that someone was mutating right now.

Tu Ran nodded, stepped aside to let him go first, and then followed behind him.

They exited the ward and closed the door.

Zero's voice sounded again: "Ding—Patient in Bed 1, Ward 406, abnormal body temperature, respiratory failure! Patient in Bed 1, Ward 406, abnormal body temperature, respiratory failure! Medical attention required, medical attention required!"

Meng Fanchen, who was about to head back to their room, had his face fall.

Why was he so unlucky?

Why, whenever it was his shift, did so many patients have problems?

"Let's go." Tu Ran reminded him.

Meng Fanchen reluctantly dragged his steps toward Ward 406.

Ward 406 was the room where a mutation had occurred earlier, biting the patient in the neighboring bed, and Ding Naiqing had shot two people to deal with it.

At this moment, there was only one patient in the entire ward.

Tu Ran led the way, with Meng Fanchen following behind her.

At Bed 1, Tu Ran stopped.

Meng Fanchen stepped forward, first setting the medical kit on the cabinet beside the bed.

The person lying in the bed looked exactly as Tu Ran had seen through the glass earlier, covering himself head to toe with the blanket.
