Mommy
After saying that, Lin Yang was still worried Xu Zhitong might refuse, so she couldn’t help glancing at her nervously.
But Xu Zhitong seemed to have been completely silenced by that kiss.
Her eyes were wide, her thick lashes fluttering rapidly.
A trace of confusion flickered in her gaze; after a long moment, she finally nodded.
“...Okay.”
She blinked, looked away, and her brows furrowed.
How strange.
The instant they’d kissed, her mind had gone blank for a second, and even her heartbeat had sped up.
Could it be that some subconscious part of her body still remembered that she had once confessed to Lin Yang right here?
It had already been more than a month since she lost her memory. Was she going to recover it now...
As soon as the thought crossed her mind, Xu Zhitong felt a strong resistance.
She did not want to recover her memory.
Xu Zhitong bit the soft flesh inside her mouth and, without realizing it, lowered her eyes, staring fixedly at Lin Yang, who had already reached the classroom door and was about to turn off the lights.
Even she didn’t know what she was thinking.
Lin Yang didn’t know either. Oblivious, she switched off the lights and looked back at Xu Zhitong, who was still standing in the dark classroom.
Thinking Xu Zhitong was reluctant to leave, she coaxed her softly. “Coming?”
The hallway was brightly lit. With the light behind her, Lin Yang looked almost unreal, like a goddess who didn’t belong there; for a moment, she seemed to merge with the glaring white fluorescent glow.
Xu Zhitong blinked, and when her vision cleared, she thought the light looked a lot like the delicate veil on a wedding dress.
If this was a dream, then maybe she was in a wedding hall right now.
Xu Zhitong shook her head.
Memory or no memory...
Why think so much?
She trusted her instincts. The only thing she knew was that the version of herself before the amnesia had never been as good to Lin Yang as she was now.
Lin Yang was very happy being with her now.
And all she had to do was hold on to that happiness.
No matter what, she would marry Lin Yang; she would buy Lin Yang countless beautiful wedding dresses, and they would swear never to part for all eternity. From then on, they would live happily together forever and ever, until death separated them.
The thought didn’t seem to come out of nowhere; it felt as if it had taken root in her mind many, many years ago.
Xu Zhitong’s heart therefore calmed a little. She said, “Mm. Let’s go.”
She hopped down from the dais, took a few quick steps to the classroom door, and closed it, putting everything outside back the way it had been.
They looked at each other and smiled, both of them feeling as if they’d done something bad together.
Then they went downstairs as carefully and quietly as two students sneaking out of class.
Outside the school gate, they got into the back seat of the car.
Just after Lin Yang told the driver, “Home,” Xu Zhitong eagerly raised the partition.
“Wait...”
Lin Yang weakly tried to stop her. She had never been intimate with Xu Zhitong in the car before, and she didn’t know how well the partition blocked sound; inevitably, she felt a little embarrassed.
But the next second, hot breath rushed over her.
For some reason, Xu Zhitong was even more impatient and reckless than usual.
She didn’t even sit down. Instead, she half-knelt with one leg beside Lin Yang’s seat, braced herself with a hand on the car door next to her, and hurriedly lowered her head to kiss her.
The first reckless kiss sent Lin Yang leaning back against the seat. She tried to turn her head away, but in the next second Xu Zhitong pressed even closer.
Her lips were seized with no chance to dodge. Xu Zhitong’s eyes were hazy, her breathing slightly heavy; one hand pressed against the back of the seat, the other looped around Lin Yang’s shoulder.
The position was hardly convenient. Xu Zhitong was practically kneeling on Lin Yang’s seat, bent over her. After kissing her twice and still not managing to part her lips, she gave an unhappy huff through her nose.
Frowning instinctively, Xu Zhitong let go of Lin Yang’s now-ruddy lips and, still holding her, quickly shifted positions.
Now it was Lin Yang straddling her lap as they kissed.
Lin Yang was so dizzy she nearly cried out. Both her knees and calves were braced on the broad, comfortable leather seat, in a posture similar to sitting on her heels.
Before she could even struggle, Xu Zhitong had one arm around her waist and the other cradling the back of her head, pressing her down to continue their liplock.
There were many speed bumps on the roads near the school. No matter how comfortable the luxury car was, it still swayed a little; with her position unstable, Lin Yang ended up being taken advantage of by Xu Zhitong, pressed lower and lower until wet kissing sounds filled the car.
Lin Yang trembled uncontrollably.
Even though she was the one on top, she couldn’t summon the slightest strength to resist, yielding to Xu Zhitong’s kiss however she pleased.
Without realizing it, her back had already softened and arched, her body going pliant. She placed a hand on Xu Zhitong’s shoulder and turned her head slightly to catch her breath.
The hand Xu Zhitong had originally placed at the back of her head had long since moved lower. Through the soft fall of her hair, she gently circled Lin Yang’s neck, caressing the nape that stood out as she bowed her head, then moving on to the butterfly-like lines of her shoulders.
The fabric of the suit jacket was smooth as silk; in terms of touch, it was like trying to see flowers through mist, wanting to touch them but never quite reaching them. Both of them grew even more flustered because of it.
When their lips finally parted in the gap between kisses, Lin Yang turned her head against the seat back and drew deep breaths. Each breath was filled with the other’s scent. She murmured twice, and was caught again by Xu Zhitong.
The more than twenty-minute drive felt as if they kissed all the way to the very last second.
The car came to a steady stop in the underground garage. The partition had excellent soundproofing, so the driver probably only thought the couple in the back seat were whispering to each other; he politely knocked once as a reminder.
Lin Yang jolted. Her eyes were bright and wet-red as she barely managed to lift her face, both hands cradling Xu Zhitong’s cheeks. “We’re home.”
Her breathing was as disheveled as her clothes. Xu Zhitong looked straight at all of it, closed her eyes, and straightened Lin Yang’s collar for her.
She even wanted to carry Lin Yang upstairs.
Lin Yang struggled and said no. There were cameras in the corridor and the elevator; even if this was a highly private residential complex and the building manager had signed a confidentiality agreement, they still had to see each other every day...
She murmured “no” over and over, but in the elevator the two of them held their breath and looked at each other, almost sticking together again like magnets.
At last, they got through the front door.
The moment it closed, Xu Zhitong switched on the lights and once again pinned Lin Yang against the door.
Moist lips landed at the corner of Lin Yang’s mouth, pecking downward in tiny kisses. Thick lashes and warm breath brought a fine, ticklish ache, but soon that itch spread inch by inch across her skin.
An open collar had its advantages, but Xu Zhitong didn’t undo a single button. She simply let her teeth and lips keep trailing kisses downward.
Kneeling on the soft mat by the entrance, she tilted her head up and kissed Lin Yang, one hand resting in a restrained grip.
In her dazed passion, Lin Yang couldn’t help thinking Xu Zhitong must have been born in the wrong year; she probably ought to be a dog, otherwise why did she use only her mouth for everything, as if she were still in the oral stage of development? But the thought quickly vanished, and her whole awareness sank into a deep pool.
With her eyes closed, one leg bent as she leaned against the door, Lin Yang bit down on the back of her hand while kissing, occasionally letting out soft, unbearable whimpers; cloth rustled.
Unlike earlier that morning, when lips had been sucked and licked, this time Xu Zhitong tried to slip into her mouth, but failing to pry it open, could only lick the moisture from her lips.
Xu Zhitong suddenly pulled back a little, lifted her eyes, and looked at her with a misty, watery gaze that could have been real innocence or just an act.
In a hoarse voice, she asked, “Teacher, I don’t know how. Will you teach me?”
Lin Yang’s mind went blank. She stared at Xu Zhitong for two seconds and understood that her plea for instruction wasn’t because she truly didn’t know; she was asking for permission.
Lin Yang opened her mouth. Her voice was inevitably rough too. After a long while, feeling that long-suppressed yearning throw off her usual train of thought, she let out a muffled laugh and said, “Do you need me to teach you how to stick out your tongue too?”
She had originally wanted to call her a bad dog or a silly dog or something like that, but when she met Xu Zhitong’s suddenly brightened eyes, Lin Yang swallowed the words back and, throwing caution to the wind, tugged Xu Zhitong’s hair and drew her forward, avoiding that direct gaze to keep kissing her.
Maybe Xu Zhitong really had some gift for this, or maybe she had been studying somewhere all these years... Lin Yang didn’t know, and she didn’t have the strength to think it through.
She was almost going limp when she felt Xu Zhitong’s lips and tongue tentatively pry open her kiss.
One hand was still on Xu Zhitong’s head, whether to pull her away or hold her even closer, and the other was pressed against the door behind her. It seemed as if all her weight wasn’t concentrated in her nearly collapsing legs, but was instead supported entirely by the friction against the door.
Again it happened very quickly. Every first time with Xu Zhitong was fast. The wet sounds were soft and unbroken, and Xu Zhitong’s swallowing seemed magnified in Lin Yang’s ears. Enduring the dense barrage of kisses, she tried to reach for the tissues on the shoe cabinet with her shaky hand, but in reality she only shifted to brace herself on the cabinet instead, as if looking for a new point of leverage, or perhaps to escape, or change positions.
At least, that was how Xu Zhitong understood it.
Xu Zhitong knelt and took two steps after her, about to chase her down, when suddenly her phone rang.
Lin Yang felt as though she’d heard a savior’s voice. She hurriedly said, “Answer it.”
Xu Zhitong froze, then hesitantly took out her phone.
She always had her phone on Do Not Disturb. Since losing her memory, aside from food deliveries, very few people had called her number.
Lin Yang turned to get the tissues. Just as she pulled out two sheets, she heard Xu Zhitong behind her, sounding a little awkward and halting, say, “Hello, Mommy?”
...
Lin Yang froze. The tissue box slipped from her hand; her elbow braced against the shoe cabinet, fingers clutching the edge tightly, and a buzzing sound nearly filled her ears.
She didn’t dare turn around.
Only the lights were on inside the room, and the silence made the woman’s voice on the other end of the call especially clear.
“Sweetie, Mommy’s back in the country.” Her voice sounded like she was at home, with news broadcasts and the clatter of a busy stove in the background, her tone warm with a smile.
“I saw your lights were on at home, so did you just get back? Have you eaten dinner yet? Your mom and I brought back a ton of souvenirs. Come over and pick out some things you like, okay? Or should we bring them to you? Do you have time to meet Mommy?”
